On Sunday 14th September – Kennet Division Guides celebrated with a Gold Tea Party in the Scout Hut Marlborough to celebrate all the girls across the Division who had achieved their Gold award in the last year – Gold being the ultimate in each of the sections – Rainbows through to Rangers. Some leaders were also surprised with awards too!
Girlguiding is the largest Girl only zone in the world and are split into four age ranges; The youngest, Rainbows are 4-7 year olds. Brownies are 7-10, Guides 10-14 and the eldest group, Rangers are in the 14-18 years old range.
In each section they all work towards badges and awards – Bronze, Silver and then Gold being the ultimate in each section. Girls and leaders work together to plan an exciting programme meeting new challenges and experiences and gaining badges and awards.
Guides meet weekly in Marlborough and the surrounding villages. This is all run by volunteers and we are in need of more to enable even more girls to enjoy the experiences from Guiding.
