The new term is underway at Marlborough Academy of Dance and Drama(MAD) and staff are celebrating the success of several students who have been accepted at well-known dance schools. Gracie Grainger,18, who has trained with MAD since she was 8, has started at the Bird Performing Arts College. Aurelie Henderson, 12, starts her first year this September as an English National Ballet Mid Associate and will train every Saturday at The English National Ballet School in Chelsea. Isabel Schembri,10, is starting her third year as a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate and trains every Saturday in Bath while Audrey Williams, 12, was accepted into the West End Kids associate programme last Christmas and has just started her second year.
Owner and Principle of MAD, Cheryl Heuston, said, ” I am so proud of all of my dancers. They are incredibly supportive of each other. It’s a huge achievement to be granted places on these highly selective training programmes and is testament to their hard work and passion for dance. Dance is an art-form which is increasingly overlooked in our education system, many schools have cut it from the curriculum altogether. This lack of provision makes the classes I’m providing even more vital for children’s physical and emotional wellbeing.”
Gracie Grainger commented, “My time at MAD was the best 10 years I could have asked for. Cheryl’s constant support, nurturing teaching style and industry experience has prepared me so well for my full-time training and I will carry her advice with me for the rest of my life! Without Cheryl, all of the teachers at MAD and the amazing lifelong friends I made along the way, I wouldn’t be where I am today – pursuing my dreams!”
MAD offers daily classes from Classical Ballet, Modern, Musical Theatre, Tap, Acro, Street Dance and Jazz. For more information on Marlbough Academy of Dance or to book a trial lesson please contact: madmarlborough@gmail.com
