The team behind the ‘Save The Silks’ campaign are in awe of the support shown for ‘The Silks’ survival as an independent pub in Ogbourne St Andrew.
Over the twenty weeks of the campaign they have raised nearly £155,000 from a healthy three figure group of community supporters, all prepared to ‘put their money where their mouth is’ (or would like it to be) and keep ‘The Silks On The Downs’ open and going forward.
With Lockdown due to be eased later this month, the team have decided to extend the Community Share offer until the end of July, closing it on Saturday 31 July.
They recognise that this could well be their last chance. And the risk of losing ‘The Silks’ is real, and in which case the Ogbourne St Andrew community would be without a pub for the first time in generations.
The campaign has bought the community of this area of The Ogbournes together, they just need somewhere central to be able to enjoy each others’ company – and to celebrate. Hopefully, in early August this could happen.
