Yesterday, September 13, in a ceremony held at the Bowood Estate, Anna Forbes, Education and Outreach Manager at Action for the River Kennet(ARK) was announced as winner of the Green Category in BBC Radio Wiltshire’s Make a Difference Awards 2025.
Anna told Marlborough.news, “It’s lovely to have the work that I do recognised. I knew that I had been nominated and it was just the icing on the cake to actually win. I took three volunteers with me to the awards ceremony because we couldn’t do what we do at ARK without our marvellous volunteers.”
Charlotte Hitchmough, CEO of ARK, said, “Anna is a passionate and committed advocate for our chalk streams and their wildlife; along with educating, inspiring and involving all ages of the community.”
Every year members of the public nominate people who they think deserve recognition for the work they have done to improve the community and the lives of those who live there. Throughout September awards ceremonies have been taking place all over the country in each BBC Radio area.
Carly Appleby, the executive editor of BBC Radio Wiltshire said, “The Make a Difference Awards are about celebrating individuals who go above and beyond to support people in their communities.”
“Radio Wiltshire has shined a light on these local heroes who are all making a real difference.”
