The sun shone brightly for the visit of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall to The Parade Cinema, today Thursday, December 2. Accompanied by the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton, HRH was welcomed by Robert Hiscox DL and Marlborough Mayor Cllr Mark Cooper.
She was introduced to cinema directors, management and staff, supporters, as well as the architects and contractors who have been responsible for transforming the 1817 Chapel into a state of the art cinema.
Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall was given a short tour of the cinema before unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion. The visit concluded with the showing of a short film trailer accompanied, of course, by pop-corn!
Marlborough Town Council said, “Our Mayor was honoured to be invited to meet HRH and the visit was a fitting recognition of all the hard work and determination of everyone involved in making the cinema such a superb facility for the town.”
Chairman of Image Cinemas Ltd, Robert Hiscox, said: “It was a huge honour to have Her Royal Highness visit our new cinema. Her enthusiasm has given us all a great boost.”
