The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have published the first results of their ‘Intelligent Monitoring’ programme of GPs’ practices across England – 7,661 practices in all. And they have placed Marlborough Medical Practice in the band of ‘lowest concern’.
This CQC scheme rates medical practices in one of six bands – using 38 indicators to judge whether they are providing safe or high quality care.
Band 6 is for those of lowest concern and Band 1 is for those of highest concern.
Marlborough, Ramsbury, Burbage and Great Bedwyn practices are placed all in Band 6. Pewsey is one of 864 practices placed in Band 1.
This is only a first step in the CQC’s regulation of GPs. They have yet to roll out a new programme that will send inspection teams to all practices.
