Drivers who can’t read – letter by Kath Pinchen

Sirs,

I know I am not the only resident of George Lane who is concerned about the large amount of motorists on our roads who cannot read.

Cars, vans and lorries continually pass the signs that state “Road Ahead Closed” then find when they get to the roadworks they have to turn around or, in the case of the lorries, have to reverse all the way back.

Is it not a requirement of the driving test that you need to be able to read to pass it?
