Winsor Birch specialises in British and European Art, encompassing paintings, works on paper and sculpture from the 18th – 20th centuries. Based in Wiltshire we participate in exhibitions and fairs across the UK and internationally. This is a vital role at the heart of our operations, with warehouse management as its central priority. We ensure every artwork is handled with care, every shipment arrives safely, and every client receives exceptional service. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, brings energy and initiative, and understands that attention to detail makes all the difference in the art world.
Primary Responsibilities
Warehouse Management:
- Implement and maintain comprehensive stock location system using our database
- Conduct regular stock checks and one major annual stocktake
- Manage all incoming consignments
- Ensure optimal storage conditions and warehouse organisation
Art Handling & Client Service:
- Pack and wrap artworks to highest standards for storage and transport
- Coordinate and personally undertake client deliveries
- Ensure impeccable presentation and follow up on client satisfaction
- Undertake minor frame repairs and coordinate with restorers
Photography & Documentation:
- Photograph all new consignments for website and marketing
- Maintain condition reports for insurance records
- Document incoming works on database
External Coordination:
- Diarise, deliver and collect works from framers and restorers
- Build excellent relationships with suppliers and partners
Art Fairs & Exhibitions:
- Coordinate logistics for art fairs and exhibitions (UK and international)
- Manage setup, collection, and transport with specialist shippers
- Handle insurance requirements and documentation
Online Sales:
- Management of online sales with incentive scheme
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaborative approach
- Genuine commitment to client service excellence
- Practical art handling and installation skills
- Strong IT skills
- Full driving licence
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required
