The January lecture of The Arts Society – Pewsey Vale, will be held on Tuesday 07 January at 2.30pm in the Bouverie Hall, Pewsey.
We will hear the story of these two remarkable Victorians and the birth of British Comic Opera, their collaboration with the entrepreneurial theatre manager, Richard D’Oyly Carte and their subsequent, unprecedented success in the world of musical theatre.
Jamie Hayes, who will deliver the lecture, is a RADA trained stage manager. He has worked at many prestigious institutions (BBC, Glyndebourne, Bristol Old Vic, RSC) and he has directed many new opera productions in the UK and across the world. His role as Director of Productions for British Youth Opera, worked at promoting the talents of our finest young opera singers.
Doors open at 2.00pm and visitors are always welcome – £7 cash on arrival. Tea/coffee and mince pies will be served after the lecture.
