Salisbury-born Loveday Pride is being featured at Pewsey’s ‘MADE in the Pewsey Vale’ gallery between 5 and 14 February. Now London based (studying for MFA (Master of Fine Art) at the renowned Slade School of Fine Art Loveday has spent much of the last couple of summers helping design and build floats for the annual Pewsey Carnival. And her upcoming show will reflect the experience of these past two summers in Pewsey.
In her own words: “I am an artist making paintings and expanded painterly objects which combine lo-fi materials and brightly coloured abstract languages, whilst questioning the intersection between art making and everyday culture.”
Loveday adds: “Recent works draw on references to Pewsey Carnival, and the float which I have designed and built over the last two summers alongside friends in Coopers field, whilst also reflecting on my own life: environment, things I have read, music I am listening to, films I have watched and conversations with friends.”
Since it opened a couple of years ago ‘MADE in the Pewsey Vale’ has grown in reputation as a vibrant gallery and artist collective. Founded by photographer Alex Bramall and illustrator Catriona Tyrwhitt, the gallery has quickly become a dynamic hub for creativity, community, and connection, whilst focusing on celebrating local talent.
Both Alex and Catriona are Pewsey based. And both bring their experiences and talent back to their home with ‘MADE in the Pewsey Vale’.
