The KRET(Kempson Rosedale Enterprise Trust) Annual Lecture will take place on Friday November 6at 7.30 pm. This year, the audience will be Zooming to California to join Vanessa Folkerts over her lunch break, as she speaks about scaling Everest, life lessons from the summit.
On May 24th, 2010, Vanessa broke the record of youngest European woman to climb Mount Everest. She had previously climbed Cho Oyu (26,864 ft), Baruntse (23,497ft), Denali (20,310 feet), the Mittelegi ridge on the Eiger, and others. An undergraduate at Princeton University at the time, she went on to study her MBA at the Wharton School and pursue a career in technology and healthcare in Silicon Valley and China.
Vanessa’s mountaineering expeditions epitomise what the Kempson Rosedale Trust stands for. This Marlborough-based charity provides assistance to outgoing young people from Marlborough schools to do inspiring and remarkable activities which will enrich their lives.
The Trust was established in the memory of EGH “G” Kempson and Rupert Rosedale who were local residents and teachers. Rupert Rosedale was Head of Outdoor Activities at Marlborough College.
