Kingsbury Street remains closed after a car driven by an elderly woman driver crashed into the side entrance of the Town Hall earlier this afternoon (Saturday 25 June) at approximately 1:45pm.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, The Air Ambulance was called and landed on The Common and the incident was attended by numerous Police cars, Fire Engines and Ambulances.
Sadly the driver, a 75 year old woman died shortly after the collision.
Passers-by and people attending a Craft Fair at the Town Hall responded quickly to raise the alert and assist the driver. The car, an elderly silver ford Mondeo was coming down Kingsbury Street and failed to take the corner at the bottom of the hill and ran into the side stonework frame of the doorway.
Police are appealing for witnesses and ask anyone who was what happened to call 101 and quote log number 195.
