Year 2 pupils at Great Bedwyn Primary School attended a private viewing of the ‘Sculpture in a Landscape 1969 – 2020’ exhibition held at West Leaze, Albourne, organised by the ‘Friends of the Garden’.
Year 2 teacher, Katharine Burrett, said, “It’s been an ‘arty’ start to term at Great Bedwyn Primary School. Year 2 children were given the amazing opportunity of attending a private viewing of the ‘Sculpture in a Landscape 1969 – 2020’ exhibition.
The garden was beautiful and contained many important and impressive sculptures, both large and small. The children thought it was magical and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the wonderful art work. They have been inspired to create their own sculptures back at school using a variety of materials.”
The exhibition closed yesterday September 27 and is the last exhibition that the Friends of the Garden will organise. Lesley Andrews from The Friends of the Garden and curator of the exhibition said, “By allowing us to stage exhibitions in wonderful garden settings thousands of visitors have been able to see, touch and respond to sculpture in a way that is only possible outside the confined space of a gallery. Our 2020 exhibition is our last and was a very special retrospective.”
