Marlborough Tennis Club’s new courts are well on their way to completion. Last week Hilda Moore, chair of the club and head coach was presented with a cheque for £360 by Waitrose’s Lisa Wakeham. The money raised was as a result of Waitrose’s green token community support scheme.
Hilda Moore told marlborough.news, “ These are very exciting times for us. The courts will be an amazing facility for the whole community to use. We are still fundraising and are always looking for creative ideas to close the funding gap. We are grateful to Waitrose and also to Alan Francis who raised £600 through sponsorship when he participated in Zip World Velocity, the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe at Penrhyn Slate Quarry, near Bethesda in North Wales.”
The next fundraising event is a Ramsbury Brewery Tour on November 11th. Cost is £20 per person and if you would like a ticket please contact Hilda Moore on email@example.com
Specialist tennis court contractors have now started work on the six all weather courts. By the end of the year the courts will have their tarmac surface and in Spring 2018 the special, green non-slip surface will be installed.
A Grand Opening Fund Raising Ball will be held on April 27. The club would also be pleased to receive donations for the auction which will be held at this event.
After the opening there will be pay and play and community options for the use of the courts.
Several sponsorship opportunities still exist for the courts, the small pavilion, equipment and wheelchair access.
