Three hundred runners raised in excess of £2,600 for St Katharine’s School at the inaugural Savernake 10K and Fun Run.
The event provided experienced runners with a 10k (six mile) event through the beautiful Savernake Forest, including the chance to run trails over private land which are not normally accessible to the public.
Meanwhile, there was a 3k (two mile) fun run for beginners.
The race attracted runners from a wide area, as well as the school community.
Henrietta Mackinnon, first female over the 10K line in a time of 45:25 said, “This was definitely the friendliest and most fabulously organized 10k race I’ve done, and all through the beautiful Savernake Forest. It was well marshalled, well signed and the water and jelly baby stops were brilliant.
“This is definitely one for my running calendar. Bring on 2017!”
Organiser Laura Bone said: “Both the 10K and 3K races were highly competitive, with impressive times being set across the board.”
“The event raised more than £2600 towards the much needed fourth classroom at St Katharine’s School. These were the final funds required and the classroom will be developed over the Summer holidays, ready for the pupils return to school in September.”
