With only four games to go before the end of the 2013/2014 season and still lying within the relegation zone, Marlborough welcomed Swansea City on Saturday (March 8.) The away fixture on 16 November 2013 saw the Welsh side win 5-0.
In desperate need of points and results to go their way so as to move further up the Conference North league table, Marlborough started the game brightly, exerting pressure on the Swansea defence.

Marlborough deservedly took the lead after a lighting fast break away move, following some Swansea pressure. This led to veteran overseas star Steve Way sliding for a tap in at the back post following a precision through ball.

Steve Way (no relation) again getting the final if somewhat fortuitous touch at the back post.
Marlborough increased their advantage to 3-0 after a short corner strike from Anil Sud. Surely the door was now shut. To their credit Swansea kept trying their utmost and were rewarded with a short corner goal of their own.
Any hopes of a miraculous comeback were ended when Sud struck again to make the end score 4-1 with both sides unable to press further in the remaining minutes.
The TH White man of the match award went to Anil Sud.
This was a crucial win against another relegation candidate. Next week Marlborough play Bridgend, who are one point above Marlborough in the bottom four places of the table.
Marlborough are looking good again: unbeaten in their last six games.
