Marlborough slumped to defeat at home to Devizes as their recent run of poor form continued. The game was kindly sponsored by Crosby and Lawrence – Marlborough College’s sports shop.
With Marlborough batting first, knocks of 39 from skipper Nick Crabbe and of 37 from Duncan Lorrain helped the home side reach 151 all out. Joe Wookey, with 5-28, was the standout bowler for Devizes.
Wookey then started with the bat scoring 64 not out, as he and Chris Downton – 30 not out -ensured that Devizes coasted to victory. They reached the victory target in the forty-second over for the loss of 4 wickets.
Marlborough skipper Crabbe is clear where his side’s recent problems lie: “Our batting has been so poor, we’re not giving ourselves chances to win games”
