Pewsey Primary has won first place in a Facebook competition organised by Crosby and Lawrence. On Monday of this week, June 17, Karl Edwards, Manager of Crosby and Lawrence, presented the school with their prize – ten brand new tennis rackets and a box full of tennis balls.
Karl told Marlborough.news: “We wanted to support our local primary schools. Crosby & Lawrence was in a privileged position where we were able to give some community support & the team feel very proud to have been able to do so. The competition was held on Facebook and the school with the most votes won the prize.”
“Pewsey Primary came from third place to first in just a few days with a total of two hundred and seventy-six votes.”
Lee Jeffery, Pewsey Primary PE leader, accepted the prize on behalf of the school. “We are very excited to win the new equipment. It will update our ageing equipment and it gives us the chance to offer expanded activities within the school.”
“The equipment will be used in PE lessons and in our after school club. It will give some of our pupils their first taste of tennis.”
“I’d like to thank all the parents, grandparents and friends who voted for us. It just goes to show the power of social medial and it’s a good example of bringing the community together.”
Crosby and Lawrence, who earlier in the year donated thirty hockey sticks to Marlborough St Mary’s, hope to be able to run more Facebook competitions in the future with the aim of more primary schools in the area benefitting from donated sports equipment.
