St Katharine’s, Savernake celebrated World Book on Friday 7th March. Children dressed as characters from a favourite book. There was also a Guess the Character game with clues such as a little bottle labelled medicine or a compass that a character uses to solve mysteries.
At the whole school assembly in the morning allowed everyone to share the wonderful creations. Pupils then took part in book related activities throughout the day. Older learners read to younger children in the afternoon. It was a great day, enjoyed by all, except perhaps Miss Trunchball who also spend the day at St Katharine’s
Principal, Niki Jones, said, “The morning of World Book Day is one of the highlights of my year. Seeing the children come into school, not only dressed as characters from stories but also with their chosen books in hand is a joy. We pride ourselves on being a school where reading is taken seriously and where we support children to become lovers of reading. This day is a real celebration of the world of books and the important place that they have in our school and in our lives.”
