The nativity season has well and truly started and at Woodborough School pupils performed not one but three performances of their play – A King is Born. The whole school participated but Year 2 pupils had the starring roles. There were also plenty of festive songs.
Katie Scaplehorn, Headteacher of Woodborough School, told Marlborough.news, “The children worked incredibly hard to remember their lines and gave three truly fantastic performances.
The performances took place at the beginning of this week, starting with a Monday matinee and followed by two evening shows. All three performances were held in the school hall, which was beautifully set up for the occasion and filled with families, friends and members of our school community.
Our Year 2 pupils stepped confidently into the lead roles and brought the story to life with real enthusiasm. They were supported brilliantly by our Year 6 children, who helped guide the younger pupils and ensured everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.
We were especially proud of the Year 6 pupils who took on key technical responsibilities. Alex and Maxwell managed the lighting throughout each performance, while Zachary and Callum oversaw the music and sound. Their professionalism and calm approach made a huge difference and added to the overall quality of the production.
A great deal of hard work went into preparing for the performances with all staff involved. Mrs Parry and Mrs Needham, our KS1 class teachers, have been dedicated in helping the children learn their lines, organise costumes and build confidence during rehearsals. Their commitment over the past few weeks was evident in the polish and energy of every performance.
The children themselves were outstanding. They learnt all the song lyrics off by heart and performed with joy, focus and increasing confidence. It was wonderful to see how proud they were of their achievements, and the positive response from families made the moment even more special.”
