From next Monday (25 April) Wiltshire Police will be reopening the doors to prospective new Police Officers.
Who? Anyone who is 17 or over and meets the eligibility criteria. Wiltshire Police are there to serve the community as a whole, Officers should reflect the overall community so be drawn from all representative backgrounds.
Since the start of the Government’s national ‘Uplift’ campaign in Autumn ’19 Wiltshire has welcomed an extra 297 student police officers with a further 140 places looking to be filled over the next year.
Policing is a career and successful student officers will have the opportunity to earn a fully funded degree while training through the three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship. And those who already hold a degree can take a two-year Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice.
Policing as a career is open to all. Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills said:
“We’re looking for resilient individuals whose first instinct is to help and support others; the problem solvers and solution-finders, calm under pressure, who ask questions and are curious, but also approachable with a natural ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. We want people with a strong sense of community, who bring a variety of skills and abilities.”
