The White Horse is key feature of Marlborough’s retail life and since the grand reopening in 2014 it has gone from strength to strength with the launch of an online book site, a new exhibition room at the rear of the building which is used regularly for events, meetings, presentations, exhibitions and gatherings – as well as a completely updated and enlarged art studio on the first floor.
To mark this milestone the 100,000th customer will receive a special prize. Manager Angus MacLennon sends the following message:
The White Horse Bookshop reopened three and a half years ago, under new ownership. During this time we have enjoyed the company of many wonderful authors, artists, musicians and customers – both local and from far afield. When I say many I mean many as we are about to have our 100,000th transaction through the tills. To celebrate the fact we are going to give a £20 voucher to the person who gets that 100,000th receipt and probably throw in a handful of other goodies as well. I am not going to tell you how long there is to go as I don’t want everyone watching and waiting in the wings – there isn’t enough room in the shop! I know it isn’t much but it is a little bit of fun to brighten this rather miserable July, and we very much enjoy a bit of fun – which I hope is always apparent when you visit!
Good luck and thank you for all your support in the past and, I hope, the future!
Angus
