Devizes Young Farmers are organising a Tractor ‘n Tinsel run involving around 100 tractors on December 20 in order to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Motor Neurone Disease. There will be a prize for the best-dressed tractor and a drive-through hog-roast.
The tractors will set off from T H Whites in Devizes at 10.30 am on Sunday December 20 and chug along through Rushall and Oare to a pit stop at St John’s Academy Marlborough. Next they will visit Marlborough High Street before heading off to West Kennet and over Tan Hill to Stanton St Bernard, Horton and back to Devizes.
Harry Stokes, chair of Devizes Young Farmers, told Marlborough.news, “We hope people will have a lot of fun while raising money for two good charities. Motor Neurone Disease is a highly regarded and important charity to us having tragically lost close family and friends in the farming community to it. This event is being held in memory of the late John Harold Davies, grandfather to one of our members.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance perform an impeccable and invaluable service for the community. We hope this continued support will protect our loved ones for generations to come.”
This is the first time the Young Farmers have organised such an event. “There will be,” says Harry, “quite a mix of tractors, some of them vintage. We hope the event will bring young and old together. Everyone loves driving their tractors.”
We are grateful for the support of our sponsors – T H Whites, NFU and Hunts and Chandlers.”
Devizes Young Farmers have set up a Just Giving page and if you would like to donate please click here.
If you would like to participate in the event with your tractor a donation of £25 per tractor is required, £5 for a passenger who must be in your bubble. A registration form can be found here. The deadline for registering is December 15.
