Every so often a successful business changes hands, and in this case from one family to another. Ever since it started, many years ago, the Holman family were The Food Gallery. Initially Bob and family had the Food Gallery in a part of Lloran House where Rick Stein is now, but later a move took them to a much larger premises a few doors along on the other side of the Wellington Arms where it really established itself as the place to go in the High Street for tea, coffee, cakes, and more – and a chat.
On Sunday (29 September) Bob, Rich and Kat held a party for their long time regular clients to celebrate the end of an era for them, and to introduce the new family – Ben and Jodie Vaughan and their young family of three (all of whom are way to young to be behind the counter, yet) who will be taking their place as the proprietors of The Food Gallery.
It was a heartfelt ‘goodbye’, but an emphatic ‘hello’.
Ben and Jodie are a family of five, with a four year old and 18 month old twins and they embark on this new adventure. They aim to keep the superb coffee, clientele and character, while bringing in their own touch. Ben being a self proclaimed foodie and whiz in the kitchen and Jodie having a key eye for detail and a passion for customer service, the duo bring a fresh dynamic to the beloved cafe.
Jodie said: “Pop in and say hi!” and she assured marlborough.news that the service and drinks and cakes will be as great as before, and that they will be keeping £1 refills – and are happy to discuss their future plans.
