Dan’s restaurant on London Road, Marlborough is about to become Dan’s at The Crown in The Parade. Dan Bond, who has been owner, chef and manager of the London Road restaurant for nearly three years, is excited at the prospect of his new restaurant, bar and function room.
Dan told Marlborough.news, “This is the opportunity to get something bigger. The restaurant will still have a cosy feel to it but we’ll have a wine bar open for walk-ins and a lovely big function room for sixteen to thirty-two people. In the summer we will be able to use the outside space too.”
“Just having the bar will be a highlight for me. We will have a big focus on wines and will be selling over twenty wines by the glass. We will stay open all day and the bar menu will be available all day.”
The menus on offer will be very similar to the current ones and popular dishes such as the gin and tonic prawns and fillet steaks will still be available. Sunday lunch is two courses for £22, three courses for £28.50. Dan’s offers a special sharing dishes set price for two of £28 for weekday lunches.
Dan’s on London Road will close on October 14 and will open in The Parade on October 25. Bookings are already being taken for the new restaurant and for the popular Christmas parties – menus and details on Dan’s website.
Meanwhile the refurbishment of The Crown continues. Dan has employed locals Fred Loosmore and Sam Hunt, whose company Contrast Timbers designs and makes bespoke furniture. They are busy making oak banquette seating and the bar, which will be oak and walnut.
Dan also plans, next year, to offer accommodation at The Crown. With the opening of the new cinema in Spring 2020, The Parade, Marlborough is buzzing and the place to be!
