Marlborough Cricket Club is calling for new players – boys, girls, men, women. For anyone who wants to get involved and play, Savernake is calling.
Internationally, cricket is on just about every news channel every day of the year, irrespective of season. The different forms of the game, the growth of Women’s cricket and the popularity of the game in the southern hemisphere mean that there is always a major game being played, plenty of work (maybe too much?) for the professional cricketers, but a great round-the-world lifestyle for the cricketing journalists….
But back here, in Marlborough all goes quiet. Or does it? The Savernake pitch may be getting it’s much-needed rest and recuperation over the winter months but the planning and back room work goes on, and part of that involves encouraging new players of all ages, genders and abilities to Savernake.
“We are a friendly and social club, with one of the most beautiful grounds in the county, including a pavilion and bar. We run 3 Saturday teams, a Women’s team and both Boys and Girl’s teams.
“Our coaches are ECB qualified, DBS checked, and first aid trained. Whether you’re a seasoned player or are new to cricket, we’d love to welcome you.
“Indoor training will commence in February next year and the club has full kit and equipment available if needed. Come along and give it a try – you’ll have a blast!” coach Hugh Norris told marlborough.news.
