ARK’s community hedge planting afternoon brought out young and somewhat older to help plant a mix of native trees that continues the new hedge line started one year ago.
As ARK’s Stonebridge Project Officer, Anna Forbes, explained: “Hedges provide a habitat for pollinators, as well as nesting sites, food and shelter for many birds and mammals.”
“The species of trees we’ve selected will be rich in berries and other fruits, which will be great for wildlife and provide visitors to the site with an opportunity to forage too.”
The trees were the third pack of saplings awarded to ARK for planting in the meadow by The Woodland Trust.
