St Peter’ is now open as a ‘Warm Space’. What is a ‘Warm Space’? Whilst energy costs are stupendously high, the cost of living is going up almost on a weekly basis and now that the weather is starting to get colder and a bit more like winter, a ‘Warm Space’ is where any members of the public can come in and enjoy much-needed warmth, light refreshment, and importantly, company.
It’s a (local) initiative, co-ordinated by local Councils (Town and County Councils) as well as other organisations, and each ‘Warm Space’ is staffed by volunteers who will offer hot drinks, cake and biscuits to all visitors. Everything is free, but anyone can leave a donation in a jar by the main door if they wish.
On Thursday of this week – 24 November – pianist Heather Croucher will join everyone there at 2pm to exercise the grand piano with a selection of Christmas Carols. She will be back on (Friday) 9 December at 1pm for more carols, but she will be joined by carol singers as well.
St Peter’s will be open as a ‘Warm Space’ every week between now and Christmas (until Friday 23 December), open Monday – Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
