Ian Tucker, Principal of St John’s Marlborough, has announced that the school, working in partnership with the Football Association, Wiltshire FA, Marlborough Youth Football Club, Marlborough Town Council and Excalibur Academies Trust, has met the criteria to build a 3G football pitch on the school site.
He said “I am pleased to be able to update you on this potential new sports development, which will have huge benefits for our students and the wider community. This is a tremendous opportunity for Marlborough that many people have worked hard behind the scenes to make a reality. I am extremely grateful for the financial commitment and support we have had from both Excalibur Academies Trust and Marlborough Town Council”.
Significant planning and consultation now needs to take place to develop and deliver the project sensitively and effectively, to ensure that this exciting facility is created for generations to come.
The build time for the project is expected to be around 18 months and further updates will be issued soon.
