Nell G, Senior Pupil at St Francis School, Pewsey is celebrating being one of the finalists in the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours Coronation Award. There were over a thousand entries from young artists aged between 11-18 and only 40 finalists – so this is a fantastic achievement.
Head of Art & Design Technology at St Francis, Jo Parkes, commented, “This is an utterly exceptional achievement by Nell, who continues to go from strength to strength with her art. To show such talent at a young age is genuinely exciting and we look forward to seeing her ability continue to flourish!”
Nell’s painting can be seen on the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours Coronation Award website, together with more details of the competition. Click here.
This success builds on Nell’s already impressive result in the Devizes Eisteddfod where she won the Senior Art Cup. At only 11 years old she was competing against fellow artists aged 11-18.
Nell hopes to follow an artistic career and as a first step is busy creating pieces for her portfolio in order to apply for an art scholarship at a senior school. Most recently she used her “free time” over the holidays to create a self-portrait in gouache and acrylic, drawing inspiration from the works of Jenny Saville.
