Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information in the wake of burglars stealing valuable silverware and jewellery from a detached house in Broad Hinton, seven miles north of Marlborough.
The break-in happened between about 5.45pm and 10.35pm on Friday, June 8.
The stolen items included a large silver tureen and ladle, candlesticks, an antique silver cruet set, two silver tankards, one bearing the initials R&W, an antique garnet necklace on a gold chain, a gold rifle tie pin and a three-stringed pearl necklace.
Most of the items are many years old and are of huge sentimental value to the owner.
PC Sophia Best from the Priority Crime Team, told Marlborough News Online: “I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen a vehicle or a person, or people, acting suspiciously. I am also keen to speak to anyone who has been offered any of the silverware or jewellery.
“You can be assured that any information I receive will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Best at Gablecross Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information may be left anonymously if preferred.
