St John’s is recruiting a cohort of interns to work at the school for three weeks in Summer 2025.
Teaching internships are an opportunity for current undergraduates to experience life as a secondary school teacher, getting involved in a range of activities based at an Excalibur Academies Trust school; either St John’s Marlborough or at one of the Excalibur Academies Trust schools in Bristol. The internships are funded by the DfE and in 2025 will run for three weeks from 16th June. Interns are paid £425 per week.
Teaching Internships are aimed at current students who would like the opportunity to find out more about teaching careers in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Languages or Physics.
Emma Hawes, Professional Learning Lead for St John’s and Excalibur said: “Professional Development is very important to us, and the DfE’s internship programme complements our aims very well. We have been running the programme in Marlborough since 2019 and, since last year, we have included opportunities for interns to be based in Bristol schools. Our exciting three-week programme, which is funded by the DfE, gives our Interns a taste of life as a secondary school teacher, as well as an opportunity to gain valuable experience, and we hope that our interns will be inspired to teach once they graduate.” Up to 10 places are available on the programme based at St John’s and a further 10 places in Bristol.
