Two new independent shops have opened in Hughenden Yard in the last month adding to Marlborough’s reputation as an attractive shopping destination. Larrie Lang has opened her florist shop ‘Feather Moss’ next door to ‘Packaging Not Included’. Mother and daughter team, Jan and Kate Winter, together with shop-dog Tilly, have opened ‘The Bay Tree’ home and gift shop in the old Monsoon shop.
Larrie describes ‘Feather Moss’ as ‘Rustic. Edgy. Deliciously Frilly’. The shop offers indoor and outdoor plants, trinkets and candles, upcycled pots and vases, together with fresh cut flowers and floral designs for weddings, funerals and events. Free local delivery is available together with gift wrapping. Larrie, who has worked in florist shops all over the world, has always had the ambition to run her own shop. She commented, “I fell in love with Marlborough and the shop. I enjoy all aspects of floristry but especially bridal work – the colours, the detail, the textures and helping to make the day special. I’m keen to be as eco-friendly as possible and use biodegradable wrapping and bases for my designs.”
Larrie is also running a Flower Crown workshop on June 18 at 12.00. The cost of the workshop is £50 and includes flowers, refreshments and tuition.
‘The Bay Tree’ sells a range of gifts for all ages. There are soft furnishings, photo frames, jewellery, handbags, Wiltshire candles, Gloucestershire ceramics, bamboo socks, scarves, garden mirrors and planters, soft toys and more. The Devizes branch of ‘The Bay Tree’ has been operating successfully in the Market Place, Devizes for eight years. There is free local delivery and items can be posted UK wide.
Jan Winter told Marlborough.news, “We love Marlborough. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and we have made good friends already. We have lovely gifts and lovely treats for you. Kate Loxton handbags and sunglasses are flying off the shelves! We are always on hand to advise on gifts.”
