Wiltshire has a new assistant chief constable – 45-year-old Mike Veale, who began his career as a police cadet . He has taken on responsibility for operational policing across the force area with immediate effect.
He knows the county well from previous postings with Wiltshire police. Two years ago, he was appointed as temporary assistant chief constable for 10 months and then took up the post of divisional commander for the county before going on to complete successfully the national strategic command course earlier this year.
Mike, who is married with a son, said: ‘I am delighted to have been appointed by Wiltshire Police Authority as the assistant chief constable and I look forward to working with the chief officer team and providing leadership and support to officers and staff so they can continue to deliver an excellent policing service to the public.’
Commenting on the appointment, chief constable Brian Moore said: ‘Mike already has experience within Wiltshire Police in this role and his contribution to organising operational policing across the county and Swindon will be very welcome as the force moves forward.
“The force will deliver savings while continuing to protect and serve the public, with our aim to make Wiltshire the safest county in the country.”
