MInal’s popular playpark has undergone major repair and updating recently thanks to funding from Hills Group, the National Lottery and Tesco.
Hills funding of £5,000 was made available through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) which is administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire. This was boosted by a further £3,500 grant from the National Lottery and £500 from Tesco’s Community Fund.
This has been a big project for the Parish Council and community as the playpark is popular with many people in the local area. It offers different equipment to challenge children and adult exercise equipment in a unique rural setting
The surface to the cableway has been replaced with a bonder rubber mulch called Tiger Mulch. Not only does this meet the appropriate fall standard but it is made a sustainable material and will last for many years. The tunnel (above) has also been repaired and improved, the work being carried out by Minal resident Simon Edwards whose company Hungerford Land carried out the groundworks and repairs to the tunnel. The tunnel is now supported by strong timber which not only looks attractive but will withstand many more children climbing over it.
The Cableway has a new safe surface and the repairs to the Mound have been completed.
Overall, a popular facility for Minal and surrounding area residents has been made even more attractive and fun, and the Parish Council want to thank the funding partners for enabling these improvements.
