The main Marlborough-Swindon road – the A346 – will be closed for four nights next month starting on 16 December.
This will be to enable ‘Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway reactive patching and associated maintenance works.’ In other words, fill in some of the (many) potholes and areas where the surface has broken up. The area will cover the stretch from Ogbourne St George to the Lower Upham Farm turning.
The ‘official’ diversion directs drivers to the M4, north of Hungerford (J14) and then to J15 (Chiseldon). A long route, although there are shorter alternatives but which aren’t on ‘equivalent’ roads or above.
The closure times will be from 7pm to 6am. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible.
Details of the closure can be found on the ‘One Network’ website. Or for further information contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0105. Sustainable Transport Group, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge BA14 8JN.
