Yesterday, Tuesday 2 November, the Town Council grounds team were out on The Green putting up the large locally-sourced Christmas Tree, adding the lights and a star on top. All done with a bit of help from the TH White Manitou ‘Cherry Picker’ which made the whole job somewhat simpler and much quicker. Also putting up the lights in The Parade and Patten Alley (by St Mary’s) as well as the main High Street display, all ready to be turned on by Mayor Nick Fogg at 6:30pm on Friday.
So all ready for Friday. As noted in our earlier story the High Street will be closed between 4pm and 8pm. However, the central parking section of the High Street will have to free of cars by 8am as the Christmas Market will be there, throughout the whole day from 10am. And this year it will run the entire length of the High Street.
Lots happening – Santa will be in his St Peter’s Grotto between 4 and 6pm, and later touring the High Street courtesy of the Marlborough Lions. There will be live music from the steps of the Town Hall between 5 and 7:30pm, the Christmas Market all day – something for everyone.
So in summary, no parking in the central area of the High Street at all on Friday, road closed between 4 and 8pm and all the lights – The Green, Pattens Alley, The Parade and of course – the High Street to be switched on at 6:30pm
