The Marlborough Big Band presented a concert at St. Peter’s Church on Friday (November 1) to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They were joined by the Sarsen Songmen, a local male voice choir specialising in four part unaccompanied songs.
The audience enjoyed a great mixture of varied music during the evening with the Big Band’s programme ranging from classics such as Pennsylvania 6-5000 to more modern pieces like Green Onions by Booker T. and the M.G.’s
The choir added to the entertainment with a wonderfully diverse set of songs including traditional folk songs, the ever-popular Beatles, through to The Gas Man Cometh by Flanders and Swann.
David Baker is the leader of Marlborough Big Band: “It was wonderful to be able to play to such an appreciative, sell out, audience.”
“We were delighted to be able to stage this concert and raise over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I would to thank the generosity of the audience in helping us to reach this fantastic amount.”
