Through raffles, Captain’s Day, dinners, and club matches where opposition team members could also contribute members of Marlborough Golf Club – led by Club Captain Richard Bodenham – have raised more than £4,500 towards helping ensure that the children and families in Marlborough, who might otherwise not get regular good meals get just that – hot family meals every week.
Richard told marlborough.news: “We decided to help out with Kids Meals just before the pandemic as it helps needy local families. I had the time and it is important in these smaller communities that you help out where you can, if you can. The charity provides cooked meals, groceries and slow cookers if needed.”
He added: “it was surprising to me even how much we raised. It goes to show how generous people are and I am grateful to the club and its members for their fantastic support. It is important also that these smaller and absolutely necessary local charities are supported as they can easily be lost in the big national causes who are undoubtedly worthy too.”
