A reminder that it is still possible to support our local independent shops during lockdown. Despite the fact that most have had to close their doors many are offering online or telephone ordering, Click and Collect and, in some cases, home delivery.
Those independent shops remaining open as ‘essential traders’ include Packaging Not Included, The Marlborough Bike Company and Rainbows.
Rainbows is open from 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Marlborough Bike Company is open from 9 am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday with service at the door and no browsing in the shop.
Packaging Not Included is open for customers to go in the shop to fill their own containers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9.30-4.30 and Saturdays 9-4.30. The shop is open on Wednesdays 9.30-2.00 for Click & Collect pick-ups and service at the door. Fruit and vegetables can be pre-ordered for Wednesday collection. As usual the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Beauty Fulltime, Ducklings Toyshop, Cat’s Whiskers, Sound Knowledge, Marlborough Photo Services and The Whitehorse Bookshop are all offering a variety of online or telephone ordering and Click and Collect.
Beauty Fulltime’s popular take-away beauty hatch will reopen Monday – Saturday 10am-4.30pm (Sundays Closed) for Click & Collect. As well as online ordering, phone 01672 514114 for any enquires, orders or delivery requests.

The team will answer any queries by email or via direct message on Facebook or Twitter. Sound Knowledge will still receive new releases while the shop is unable to open. Customers are encouraged to get in touch with any wants and these will be held for you.
Ducklings Toyshop are reverting to on-line and Click and Collect shopping. They will be open for collecting between 10 and 1 on weekdays from Thursday January 7.
Marlborough Photo Services are offering on-line ordering, Click and Collect on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They are also offering some limited free delivery too. They will continue to offer an emergency passport photo facility. This will be by appointment only.
At The Whitehorse Bookshop, all art courses which were scheduled to happen in January and February are cancelled. It is hoped to be able to reschedule them for Spring. Anyone who has signed up to any of these courses will be contacted over the next week. A refund will be available on all bookings.
However, it is still possible to purchase books or art materials from The Whitehorse Bookshop website. A Click and Collect service will be offered from 10.00am – 2.00pm Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
If you require a book or art materials not in stock then email email@example.com. Ordered books will be sent to your home straight from the wholesaler unless you live close to the shop.
The Cat’s Whiskers’ team will be working hard behind the scenes at the shop, taking photos and getting ready to sell online. So if there’s something that you would like, give them a ring on 07712 018543 and they will arrange safe doorstep collection, postage, or possibly local delivery.
The Cat’s Whiskers speak for all our local traders commenting, “Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you again on the other side. Thank you for supporting small independent businesses.”
