Sport returns to the Marlborough area. Marlborough Tennis and Pewsey Tennis Club are both open again to members, but with quite specific rules about what can be done.
“We are delighted to be able to offer sports facilities to the town again at our fabulous courts based in the heart of a relaxing, picturesque setting” said Roger Wheeler, Marlborough Tennis chair.
Pewsey Tennis Club Chair Claire Bamforth was one of the first out on the court in Pewsey yesterday, telling marlborough.news “I’m really excited, it’s just fantastic,” adding “Take it easy in the first hour or two,”…. “After no play for seven weeks it’s easy to pull a muscle.”
Lockdown isn’t over, social distancing must be rigidly observed and only singles matches are allowed (unless family groups), and every player must used their own clearly marked balls only. And plenty more, but at least tennis is again available to the community.
Coaching will be available soon in both Marlborough and Pewsey, Marlborough coach Joe Revelle will be available as from next week and can be contacted at email@example.com for more details.
Pewsey Tennis Club has received a lot of enquiries from people who are not members and is offering a special 50% discounted membership rate. More information can be found here https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/pewseytc.
To find out the new guidance for ‘Covid-19 Restricted Play’ visit the Marlborough Tennis website here where a comprehensive list is shown of what has become the ‘new normal’ for tennis.
“We wanted to open Marlborough Tennis again to all our members as quickly as possible” explained Hilda Moore, Marlborough’s LTA Level 3 coach, adding “huge credit to the committee for the planning and energy to make this happen”.
