On Monday August 22 over 40 of our Ukrainian friends living in the area enjoyed a trip to Oxford courtesy of Barnes coaches and organisers Rachel Rosedale, Barry and Christine Mercer, Tony Michael and Brenda Mortimer. Starting outside the Ashmolean Museum our Ukrainian visitors were treated to a guided tour by the Marlborough residents around Balliol College, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Bodleian Library, the covered market, the Pitt Rivers Museum and the National History Museum. There was time for some shopping and the afternoon ended with tea and cakes in the Oxford Quaker Centre garden.
Barry Mercer told Marlborough.news, “It was a wonderful day and the Ukrainians were thrilled by the architecture in Oxford and all the Harry Potter connections. Many thanks to everyone who made the trip possible and to Barnes coaches who made no charge and driver Barry.”
Svitlana Dukhovska said, “It was a really good trip, we could have stayed for two days. We loved the Harry Potter bits. Can we go again ?”
