Debi’s colouring and activity book, aimed at younger children aged 3 to 6 contains local scenes such as Silbury Hill but with the added attraction of unicorns!
Both Debi and Rolo will be in The White Horse Bookshop on Saturday January 18 from 11 am to 1pm. Debi will be signing copies of both books.
Debi has been writing the Rolo books for seven years. Each book can be read as a stand alone or as a follow on from Rolo’s other adventures.
“They are,” Debi told marlborough.news, “designed to be educational and to link literacy with the history the children are studying at school. I try to pick out the exciting bits of history to inspire the children.”
Debi runs free workshops in schools. “I always ask the children where they want Rolo to go next and they always say the Titanic and Florence Nightingale. So that’s where he goes in my new book. He travels on the rescue boat the Carpathia to pick up survivors of the Titanic.”
“I aim to empower young minds. I enjoy the research and weaving the fantasy. It’s great to go into schools, weave a bit of magic and inspire children to write their own stories.”
As well as workshops in schools Debi gives talks to a range of adult groups.
There are already plans for a Book 6 where Rolo will be discovering how the internet came about.
