Award winning children’s author, Christopher Edge, visited Kennet Valley C of E Primary School last week to speak about his latest book, ‘Escape Room’ and to run interactive creative writing sessions for Key Stage 2 pupils.
Teacher, Sarah Byford, Reading Lead, said, “We have been so excited about this visit from Christopher Edge and he didn’t disappoint. The creative writing sessions were amazing and engaged all of the children, whilst the book talk really got them excited to read some of Christopher’s books.”
In a fun, lively session Christopher shared tips with the children about how to write their best story ever. Joanna Hogan, year 4/5 teacher said, “The children responded brilliantly. There was such a buzz in the classroom both during and after the talks. The class were so excited to write their own stories following on from the start they made in the creative writing workshop.”
‘Escape Room’, formed the basis for the afternoon’s activities, where children participated in their very own escape room, solving riddles and puzzles. They were then treated to a talk about the book and were given the chance to ask lots of questions, including ones about becoming an author. At the end of the day Christopher signed lots of books for the children.
