The sign says Downing Street and this photo (right) shows Transition Marlborough’s festoon of postcards written by town residents and delivered to the Prime Minister urging support for the United Nations’ efforts at the Paris climate summit (COP21) to produce a real and binding agreement that will reduce global warming. The postcards were read with interest by fellow campaigners.
We are publishing this now to remind everyone that that while the national media have been obsessed with reporting Parliament – a rare occurrence! – squads of civil servants and experts are still labouring away in Paris over both the big and small print of a new climate treaty.

It is good to learn that earlier this year Costa Rica went for a record 94 days in a row without using fossil fuels to generate its electricity. It is not so good to read that French officials think the Paris process is not progressing fast enough.
