Ignite is back. After a very successful 2022 launch at Marlborough’s The Parade Cinema it’s returning for a bigger and better 2023 Ignite Film Festival.
There will be five nights of screenings – Monday 19 June to Friday 23, followed by a red carpet awards night on Saturday 24 June.
Overall there will be sixty four films across all genres and formats – shorts, features, documentaries, animations, experimental – across all genres (Comedy, Drama, Horror) – and from all over the world.
Films this year are coming from countries including UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, France, Germany, South Africa, Iran, UAE, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Austria, Ukraine, Poland, Italy and Hungary.
Festival Director Billy Rees told Marlborough.news: “This year’s lineup sees a number of familiar faces cast in some of the selected films – including Tamzin Outhwaite, Ralph Ineson, Larry Lamb (who is also nominated for the Ignite Best Actor award), Merrit Weaver and Alba Baptista. All giving incredible performances and showing their support for independent filmmakers.
It is so important that successful actors take the time to assist up-and-coming filmmakers making their way in the indie film industry – it’s a great way of giving back”
The final Awards Night will be, as in every great Film Festival a red carpet affair and the nominated filmmakers will be hoping to take away one of the twenty-one bespoke ‘Ignite’ awards – hand crafted using locally sourced, sustainable materials.
Each of the screening nights starts at 7pm with films commence between 7:45 and 8 depending on the day. Line-ups for each evening are below – click on any to enlarge.
On Wednesday and Friday there will be a Question and Answer session with some of the filmmakers directly after their films have been screened.
