Salted caramel and vanilla, chocolate and banana, strawberry and vanilla are just some of the milkshake flavours to choose from at The Milk Yard. Situated at Warren Farm (SN8 3BQ) the Milk Yard has become a popular local destination for adults and children alike.
For the Carling family every Monday is Milkshake Monday. They told Marlborough.news, “It’s not just a half-term treat. Milkshake Monday has helped us get through lockdown and home schooling!”
The Milk Yard, which opened last month, sells farm fresh pasteurised milk from the 330 Holstein Friesian cows at Warren Farm. Anne Homer, who is in charge of the venture, has been surprised and pleased with how quickly word has spread.
She said, “We always knew it would be successful but we’ve had such a good response. The first weekend we were open we ran out of milk but now we are keeping up with demand. We’re expecting a busy half-term.
The milkshakes are proving to be very popular with adults and children alike. I’ve received some good tips from customers. If you put a shot of strawberry and a shot of vanilla into a litre of milk the resulting vanilla/strawberry milkshake is particularly delicious. We also sell honey from hives near Durley, just down the road.”
Spring is a busy time on the farm. The dairy herd is a spring calving herd and 330 calves will be born over the next ten weeks.
Anne commented, “The cows are inside at the moment but hopefully by the beginning of March they will be outside.”
I litre of milk costs £1.20 and 500ml 70p. The reusable and dishwasher safe glass bottles cost £2 for a litre bottle and £1.50 for 500ml. You can of course bring your own bottles. There are 5 different flavours of milkshakes at 25p per shot. One 25ml shot is needed for half a litre. Honey is £5 per jar.
The vending machine area is Covid safe. The machines are self-service and payment is contactless.
The Milk Yard is open 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm.
