Last March we reported Dan Callaghan’s planned attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
We are proud to announce that Dan conquerered all 5,895 metres of Africa’s highest mountain after what he described as “an incredibly tough but amazing six day trek through five climatic zones and extreme temperatures to an altitude of 5895 metres. It was a truly breath-taking experience but would not have been possible without your donation and fundraising help which I am greatly appreciative of”.
Dan raised just over £3,000 in total for Meningitis Research, from a range of different activities including an online auction, bucket collection, and donations from friends, family and public.
“It was incredibly tough challenge and one that pushed me to my physical and mental limits but reaching the summit was such an amazing moment” said Dan. “And it was a great group from Loughborough and Warwick Universities that I had the pleasure of doing it with. I am hugely grateful to everyone that helped me with fundraising, sponsored me or even wished me luck. Without any of them this wouldn’t of been possible and so much good will come from the money that has been raised.”
