Today, at 1:15 pm Mayor Lisa Farrell and the Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mr Deepak Gupta read out the Proclamation of the new King, HM King Charles III.
This was read on the steps of the Town Hall and Mayor Farrell and Mr Gupta were accompanied by the entire Town Council and Mace Bearer.
Elsewhere in Wiltshire, in Trowbridge, the County Proclamation was made on the steps of old County Hall following a minute’s silence. The Proclamation was made by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Rose Troughton.
Elsewhere in Marlborough the town’s ‘mystery knitters’, the ‘yarn bombers’ struck again, but in a gesture of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A knitted ‘hat’ now adorns the postbox outside the Marlborough Library, adjacent to St Peter’s at the western end of the High Street. A knitted homage to Her Majesty and one of her corgis……
