Fuel thieves have stolen more than 1,000 litres after breaking into a locked store shed in Ogbourne St Andrew, police revealed yesterday (Wednesday).
Now they are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the village to come forward in what was the second incident of its kind in the Marlborough area following an attempted fuel theft from a farm at Manton.
PCSO Jon Mills believes that tracks left by the vehicle used to take the fuel – it is of a type very similar to diesel — needed to have pumping equipment, as well as a large storage tank.
The tracks showed it used a by-way off the main A346 Marlborough to Swindon Road and was driven across a field to the locked shed where the fuel was stored.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PCSO Mills on 101 or the Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
